A Change of Plans

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you for your prayers this past week! Amos has done extremely well and has really loved being home. But we wanted to tell you all that we have decided to return to CHOC in Orange, CA, to do Amos’ chemotherapy treatment. Everything is fine with Amos, so please don’t worry. We’ve decided to do this because we think it will be best for him in the coming months.

We didn’t anticipate this change of direction but we are comforted to know that the Lord has known this plan for us all along. We are thankful for the chance we had to reconnect with friends who feel like family here in Cambridge but it makes leaving again that much harder. Many thanks also for the incredible amount of help we received in our short time here! We know we would not have been able to do this past ten days without you all.

Please pray for us as we travel back to California Saturday (tomorrow). Pray for safe travels, that we would all stay well physically through this next transition and that the Lord would watch over us and Amos as he begins his chemotherapy on Wednesday at CHOC.

We will write more later but wanted to let you know about these recent developments and ask you to pray for us in these next days of transition. We are thankful for the Lord’s continued guidance as we navigate making the best decisions for Amos and for our family. We are also thankful to be leaving Cambridge with many sweet memories even after just a short time here. Our prayer is that the Lord would bring us back this new year with a stronger, healthier Amos.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Love,

Kelli, Will, Amos, and Luke

  1. We will pray for you all. I am sure that was NOT an easy decision, but I am glad you all will be back in the states with family and doctors that know Amos. Greg is hoping you can keep your scholarships, Will, and just put them on hold. Let us know exactly when you will leave so we can pray!!!!

    1. Thanks, Dorinda! I’m planning to intermit Michaelmas Term, which will not affect funding (it will be pushed back one term). I’ll probably make a few trips to Tyndale over the next few months, as well, Lord willing, to keep up as much as possible. We’re departing tomorrow at 4:15pm GMT.

  2. Dear Will, Kelli, Amos, & Lucas,

Safe travels and a joy-filled reunion with your family. I am sure that between the lines of your brief note lie much prayer, many jumbled thoughts, and *very* mixed emotions.

May the Lord calm your hearts, and encourage you with the assurance that the Lord is with you and that he will keep you all, and the firm hope that we will all have good cause to rejoice with you when the Lord leads you to draw water with joy from the wells of his salvation.

With much love from us all to you all,

    fred

  4. It was wonderful to see you all at Christ Church last Sunday, but CHOC sounds like such a lovely place that I’m glad Amos will be reunited with his nurses and doctors there. I’m sure he will be looked after very well.

‘May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word.’ (Psalm 119:74. You have caused me to rejoice because of the faith that the Lord has given you in Him. May he carry you through the next few days in his ‘everlasting arms’. Praying for you.
