MRI + Back to School Updates

Hello Friends,

We hope you’ve had a wonderful summer! Thank you for your ongoing prayers for Amos and our family. As usual, it’s been a bit longer than we expected between updates but that’s thankfully not because of bad news — just slower news and busier days!

Amos’s most recent MRI at the end of July went well and the results showed nothing new of concern. We weren’t really sure what to expect but across the board, but Amos’s team feels good about what they are seeing. The tumor is still visible in scans but presumably those cells are all “dead” from the Gamma Knife procedure Amos underwent at the end of June. The doctors will continue to watch and scan closely and we will continue to pray for complete healing.

Amos also began metformin (the trial drug) in July and so far that has been very smooth for Amos as well. We are so grateful for the lack of complications Amos has enjoyed with metformin and the chemo drug, Avastin, that he’s been on for a while now. Please continue to pray for all of these treatments to be fully effective to keep Amos free from cancer and that he would not suffer adverse side effects.

The end of the summer is upon us and while we grieve the challenges and sorrows it has brought, we also rest in the continued and visible care that the Lord has provided. We are tired and back in the saddle with a lot more doctors’ appointments than we’ve been used to in a long time, but Amos carries on without much complaint. He starts 8th grade this coming Monday and we are thrilled for him to once again be able to begin a new school year with so much behind him. Please join us in praying for a good, easy, un-disrupted school year for Amos. He is such a trooper and in so many ways has no idea how much he has been called to endure.

We are grateful for good memories made this summer even amidst the unexpected and various disappointments. Here are a few favorite pics from all of us. May the Lord bless you and keep you all in this next season whether than signals academic calendars or simply cooler temps!

Many Blessings. Love,

The Ross Family
