Dear friends and family,
As we posted earlier this week, Amos had a round of appointments yesterday and today at Duke hospital. The most important of course is the MRI. Thank you for praying for our trip.
The scan shows something that looks a lot like another recurrence. The oncologist and radiologist are fairly confident that is what we are dealing with. It is small. (Even smaller than the one from March ’25.) But it is still most likely a serious problem.
There are a lot of details still to come, including input from a team of doctors across a number of specialties. Another brain surgery is very likely, but how soon that may happen we don’t yet know. Radiation seems unlikely given how recently Amos had it. We’ll know more in the coming days.
It’s not the news we wanted or prayed for. But the Lord Jesus is on the throne. Despite it all, Amos is his usual self. His spirits are high and his faith is firm. He and I had a good time together on this trip. So we are thankful.
Please pray for clarity about treatment plans as we discuss these things with the Duke team. We’ll provide more information when we can.
Love,
The Ross Family
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”
even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you. (Ps. 139:11-12)

I love you, Amos. Jesus loves you even more. You are my hero.

Dear Will and Kelly,
We have been praying and we are sorry to hear this scan result. We’re glad it’s small, but we know the implications are still big. We are sad for all this means, though we will ask for faith to trust you all to him. Sometimes believing that God is kind and good is the hardest thing- we can’t do it without his work. So we pray that God will hold you fast, especially when holding on feels impossible. It is impossible, and he will hold you fast.
We love you,

This was a bittersweet update. Not what we wanted to hear but a lot to be thankful for. We will pray for God’s clarity with the doctors in their decisions that they have to make. He already knows the outcome and the processes which will take place along the way. We can rest in that and praise the Lord who loves Amos more than we could ever know.
