Second Surgery Anniversary

Dear friends and family,

Today marks one year since Amos’s brain surgery.

It’s difficult to believe a year has passed already. A few days ago we remembered the one year mark for when we learned about his cancer recurrence. And now today we remember his surgery (here), which by God’s grace and the surgeons’ expertise went extremely well (here).

One of the things that stands out when looking at those posts from a year ago is how the Lord heard and answered our prayers. The surgery was successful, the hospital stay was brief, Amos’s incision healed well, he endured radiation, the follow-up scans have been good. Through it all, God has been faithful to Amos and our family, and so we praise him.

On a day-to-day basis, Amos is doing very well. He has grown something like five inches since this time last year! He is keeping up with school work (thanks to Kelli’s diligence and occasional whip-cracking) and participating in youth group and other activities. His humor and cheerful demeanor persist, despite all that he has endured. We continue to be amazed with how God made Amos.

We also continue to pray for clear and stable scans. Amos is still dealing with difficulties with his vocal chords and is receiving therapy to help him sound clearer and project better. Please join us in praying for that as well.

A few pictures below from over the past year. We pray for the Lord’s blessing on the coming year as well.

But you, O LORD, are a shield about me,
my glory, and the lifter of my head. (Ps. 3:3)

  2. Linda and I are delighted to learn of the progress Amos has made over the past year and the success of his treatment. Here in Cambridge your old home has been lived in by a charming Australian couple and their young daughter for a couple of years. In June they head home. It’s always a tricky moment. We’ll be hoping for good neighbours once again.

so grateful for God‘s healing hand and love for Amos. We will continue to pray for improved vocal therapy and clear/stable scans.(and a new wardrobe if he keeps growing like that!)
