Week Five

Dear friends and family,

It’s amazing to look at our “countdown clock” on the right side of the site here and see only ten days remaining until the end of radiation. Thank you so much for your ongoing prayer for Amos and our family, along with the various kinds of support we have received from many.

The last two weeks have gone well in Durham and back home in Charlotte. Most importantly, Amos is thriving and continues to have no side effects to speak of, which is truly remarkable. Most days we are in Durham, he continues to have one or two other appointments besides radiation, he will do some homework, and he’ll get some exercise. We’ve been so glad to see his energy levels remain stable and we’re praying that continues. Last week Amos received his second infusion of a drug that should help avoid side effects. He handled it well, but obviously dislikes the process. We have one more infusion late next week, which will be the last.

We’ve also had some good times over the last two weeks. Highlights include reuniting with our dog Gus after three weeks away at doggy camp. Having him off scene was a huge help for Kelli while I was away given all the end-of-year activities with school, choir, baseball, etc. But we were glad to have Gus come home!

We also had a great time with my parents, who came in last weekend to see Luke perform in a musical. My dad (“Grandpop”) then spent the week in Durham with Amos and me. It was great to have backup and some guy time together. (Pics below.)

Amos and I head back to Durham today (yesterday was “off” due to the holiday) and will have our typical few days there. Please pray for safe travel and successful appointments!

Cast your burden on the Lord,
    and he will sustain you;
he will never permit
    the righteous to be moved. (Ps. 55:22)

  1. So thankful to read that Amos is doing so well with his treatments. What a blessing to read his discomforts are much less, his strength is good and you are able to make these trips pleasurable. So happy your dad, Pop Pop, could join you. Amos is certainly favoring Will in these pics.

    Love to the family!
