Dear friends and family,
As we mentioned in our last post, this Thursday Amos will begin six weeks of radiation treatment at Duke Hospital. It’s going to be a long haul. You can see on the right of this website that we have a countdown timer to the last day of treatment. Here is what we expect until then.
This Thursday and Friday, we are planning to make day trips to and from Durham. Normally the daily radiation appointments will be fairly short (~45m), but the first one on Thursday will be longer for various reasons.
Starting on Monday the 28th, Amos and I (Will) are going to semi-relocate to Durham. In practice, that means we will leave home Monday morning and return Friday afternoon each week. (We considered driving back and forth for each appointment, but four hours of daily drive time for thirty days just did not seem feasible or safe).
During the week in Durham, the main objective obviously is that Amos will receive radiation daily. But since we’ll have a fair bit of time on our hands aside from that appointment, we’ll also build in other activities to make the most of it. Our hope is that Amos will have the stamina to keep up with school work. (I will be working remotely as well. RTS has been extremely supportive.) We are also arranging for regular physical therapy, acupuncture, exercise, and other constructive appointments for him. On top of that, we’re also planning to have some fun. There are some cool places to visit in Durham, and Amos is eager to go to a Bulls game or two (local minor league baseball).
Back at home, Kelli and the kids will continue with their lively schedule, including homeschool, baseball, choir, and lots more. We are hoping to off-load some of the burden for her in various ways, which will probably start with sending our energetic birddog, Gus, off to doggy camp somewhere.
A number of you have asked to support us financially (or already have done so). We are extremely grateful for your generosity! The Lord has provided for us in amazing ways over the years, and we are not in significant financial need. But if you’d still like to help us offset costs, you can do that here.
We’ll post updates regularly here in the coming weeks.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. (2 Cor. 9:8)

I will be praying for all of you during these next weeks, but especially for Amos and the radiation treatments. βMay the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; may the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.β Amen. Numbers 6:24-26
