Brief Update

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your prayers last week as Amos and I had a long day on Wednesday. Overall, things went well, even though they were not particularly fun for Amos. The two big pieces of news are:

First, the lumbar puncture test results came back “negative” (in a good sense), meaning there is no trace of cancer cells floating around in the spinal fluid. This is excellent news!

Second, after consulting with a number of doctors in several locations, we have decided to proceed with radiation treatment at Duke. This too is good news, at least in the sense that Durham is much closer to us than other potential locations would have been.

So praise God with us for these two important developments!

We also have a clear roadmap now for treatment. Amos will begin radiation on April 24th. Appointments will occur every weekday for six weeks, taking us through the first week of June. The actual radiation appointment will only be about thirty minutes long, but obviously this plan means that Amos and I (Will) will be spending a lot of time in Durham this spring. Please pray for us as we organize logistics.

The radiation that Amos will receive is highly focused. Ideally, it will not be too hard on him, physically. But there are risks involved in radiating the brain stem. So please do pray that the Lord would protect Amos from negative affects from the radiation, particularly guarding his neurological and motor functions.

For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God? (Ps. 18:31)
