Morning Update

Dear all,

Just a brief update this morning. Kelli stayed with Amos last night here at the hospital and they had a pretty good night’s rest. Amos continues to do really, really well. Everyone we’ve seen this morning has been amazed by how well he’s doing. Highlights today include getting some good breakfast, getting his last IV out, getting dressed on his own, and — best of all — getting cleaned up with a hot shower!

The results of the MRI last night looked excellent. There is nothing visible in the location of the tumor, which is ideal. At this point, the doctors (tumor board) are getting results of the biopsy and scans to determine what the next steps will be. Radiation is definitely part of the plan, but details are not yet settled (what kind, how much, where, etc.).

He has been seen by physical and occupational therapy today and they’re very happy. Amos is now only on Tylenol for pain relief too, and he’s been up and around the room and the halls quite a bit this morning. So all systems are go for discharge today, which is absolutely wonderful. Depending on what time that happens, we may or may not actually drive back to Charlotte today. We’ll see.

Friends, the Lord has answered so many of our prayers. To have such a straightforward and successful surgery, with no apparent impacts on Amos mentally or physically, and to be heading home after just a few nights — We’re thrilled and exceedingly grateful.

Please pray:

  • For discharge today! Amos is eager for this
  • For Amos’s continued healing and recovery
  • For a clear and prompt plan for radiation
  • For complete resolution to the tumor that was removed
  • For ongoing and complete freedom from any future recurrence

For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. (Ps. 86:5)
