Hi Friends and Family,

Thank you for your prayers for this most recent trip to CA. Will and Amos returned home on Thursday after a busy but good trip. Most importantly, Amos’s MRI showed no changes, which is exactly what we want to see. Praise the Lord for his continued protection over Amos! While these trips are beginning to feel a bit “normal,” we are also very aware of the serious reason and possible implications of each scan. It is life lived in the tension of not knowing what a day holds – which perhaps places us all in the same boat, knowing and trusting in the One who does. Each trip to CA and each MRI scan brings these realities to the forefront in a poignant way.

While in CA, Amos also had his airway scoped to evaluate his readiness for getting the trach out (decannulation). The scope showed that the muscles in his airway are stronger and have indeed improved from the last scope in August. This is great news. However, the scope also showed some concerns with Amos’s vocal chord movement, which may impede the decannulation process. We aren’t entirely sure what this means beyond more waiting and more tests. We plan to do that in May, but we are less sure now that Amos will be ready for decannulation. Please pray for wisdom and clarity for the doctors involved and for Amos’s airway to recover enough to safely have the trach removed this May!

A Stretch of Spring

Now that the boys are back, our days are finally settling down! Samuel is now 5 weeks old and we are looking forward to the next several weeks of quiet. No travel. Just the FIVE of us. More daylight and warmer days too as spring draws near! We are so thankful for the chance to slow down a bit (just a bit!!). Life with three boys is keeping us busy but it’s oh so sweet. Samuel is a perfect addition (except for every now and then when he shows off his powerful lungs … ahem) and the boys are happy to announce his arrival wherever we go. Amos and Luke mostly leave Samuel to me and in a surprising way his presence seems to have drawn their relationship closer. They are playing together more than ever and I am so thankful to see their friendship grow!

Prayer

Thank you for your prayers for our family. Please pray that we would continue to trust the Lord and look to Him for our strength each day even when things seem too heavy and too hard to bear. Please pray for Amos to remain permanently free from cancer and for his recovery to continue. Please pray for Will and I as we care for Amos and all of his needs as well as Luke and Sam. May we be given abundant patience and grace with one another as we are stretched in new ways and find our plates piled to what seems impossible heights.
