Dear friends and family,
There are very few ways to express how thankful we are for this day. The picture at the top of this website was taken on Amos’s 3rd birthday party in Cambridge. It is hard to take in all that Amos has been through this past year of his life. Only several short weeks after he turned 3, Amos was thrust into a very real battle for life itself, one that did not have numbers in his favor. After two emergency brain surgeries and and about four weeks in the intensive care unit, Amos was in the hospital for another seven weeks for radiation, followed by another four months of out-patient chemotherapy. Every day since he came out of the intensive care unit, Amos has been working. Working to regain his strength and relearn how to walk, talk, and eat.
Friends, although we did not focus upon this in our posts during the early days of his recovery process back in July, Amos was essentially paralyzed after his brain surgery. Aside from very limited hand responses, Amos was not capable of moving anything. As I said, he has been hard at work ever since. Therapy of many kinds, almost every day of the week, often twice a day. We have learned so much from his persistence, patience, and determination.
God has been with Amos in every moment. Amos knows that, and we know that in ever-new ways as Amos continues to make progress and improve overall. Thank you to everyone who has been so diligently praying for him. Please continue to bring our concerns to the Lord! He hears us.
Amos is making such wonderful progress recently, that we wanted to share some fun (short) videos with you all. These were taken last weekend. You can see how well Amos’s balance has improved, and how sturdy he is getting.
Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations. (Deut 7:9)
Love in Christ,
Will, Kelli, Amos and Luke
Happy Birthday Amos!

Dear Kelli, Will, Amos (Ames?), and Lucas (Lukey? Lukie?),
First: Many happy returns of the day, Amos! Another year–woo-hoo! And hitting them out of the camera’s eye. Way to go!
I’m not sure what the best part is–perhaps Will’s sudden acceleration as the scooter picked up speed toward the road, followed by high fives “all ’round”. Therapy is a family affair.
And this birthday reminds me of this prayer:
Almighty and Everlasting God, in whom we live and move and have our being, we thy needy creatures render thee our humble thanks for thy preservation of us from the beginning of our lives to this day, and especially for delivering us from the dangers of the past night; for these thy mercies we praise and magnify thy glorious name, humbly beseeching thee to accept our [morning sacrifice of] praise and thanksgiving, for the sake of him who lay down in the grave and rose again for us, thy Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen. (Family Prayer, BCP (1928))
And may this coming year be blessed by that same providential care, ending with another happy return of this day.
Much love from us all to you,
fred
