Amos Ross Updates

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers this weekend. Amos continues to do well and we think he enjoyed these days of rest almost as much as we did!! We’ll be jumping back into our radiation and therapy schedule tomorrow morning.  As we’ve said, these weekends will be uneventful for Amos but very important as he rests up for all that each week holds.

We feel like things are settling down in new ways for us – we have a schedule and very clear-cut goals for Amos each day and week. It’s still unclear how long Amos will remain in the hospital but for now we are settled there until further notice. Starting this week, we will begin to post less often as there is less going on. Of course we will make sure to share all of the exciting things!! Words can’t express our gratitude for the time you take to read and PRAY as this story unfolds for Amos and our family.

Someone directed me to 2 Chronicles 20 somewhere along this journey and I keep going back to it so I thought I would share. This chapter tells of Judah fearing invasion and Jehoshaphat, the King, praying to the Lord for deliverance. He says,

“O Lord, the God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens? And are You not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in your hand so that no one can stand against You … Should evil come upon us, the sword, or judgement, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house and before You (for Your name is in this house) and cry to You in our distress and You will hear and deliver us … For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; we do not know what to do , but our eyes are on You.”

I am so thankful for this declaration of faith in the midst of what seemed like certain destruction. Even more amazing, the Lord answers Jehoshaphat and says, “Listen all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s.'” The rest of the chapter is great, but I have been so encouraged by these amazing words in light of the battle that Amos is fighting. May we have the kind of faith that says, “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.” May we know the peace that comes from trusting that the battle belongs to the Lord. We don’t fight this alone and you all are a huge testament to that as we’ve see the Lord’s faithfulness displayed through his people. Thank you for your prayers and support in countless ways!

This week, please continue to pray:

-For Radiation to be successful and for the there to be no more cancer in Amos’ future.
-For Amos to rest well and be able to work hard at physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Pray for his patience and that he would not be discouraged.
-For Amos to not have any setbacks or infections. Please pray for a small pressure sore on the back of his head to not turn into a problem.
-For the Doctors and nurses to be wise and careful as they interact with and care for Amos each day.
-For Will and I to be wise and careful as we interact with and care for Amos each day.
-For our family as we seek to drawn near to the Lord and to one another during this time.
-That the Lord would protect and preserve Amos from lasting fears or anxieties surrounding this experience. That Amos would know the Lord’s presence and cling to Him through all of this.
