Friday, July 24, Update #28

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued prayer. Today was another good day for Amos. Things were a bit more uneventful than yesterday but we are hopeful that Amos is continuing to rest and regain strength. Will and I were able to take a much needed break from the hospital, thanks to Gigi and Grandpa. We spent some time with Luke and even fit in a date night!

We are tired and in need of rest but we didn’t want to miss an update. We appreciate your prayers and encouragement so so so much. Today we received a care package from all of our friends at Tyndale House in Cambridge. It was so sweet to receive encouragement from all of them! All of the cards, emails, and gifts we’ve received are daily reminders of the love of Jesus shown through all of you. Thank you.

Remember to sign up for updates on the blog from here on out if you’d like to follow this journey with us.

Please continue to pray for:
-Recovery for Amos this weekend- good rest and great progress with therapy.
-For Amos’ radiation treatment to be completely effective and that he would be forever cancer free.
-For Amos to be brave, patient, and persistent in the face of all the difficulties, fears, and frustrations that he faces.
-For Will and I to know how to comfort, encourage, and point Amos to the lord in helpful ways.
-For us all to know and trust the goodness of the Lord more and more each day.
-For Amos’ vocal chords and cough and gag reflexes to return quickly and for his posterior fossa syndrome to come to an end soon.

A good reminder for myself today came from one of the first hymns that Amos and I learned together, Jesus What a Friend for Sinners…

Jesus! what a Help in sorrow!
While the billows over me roll,
Even when my heart is breaking,
He, my Comfort, helps my soul.

Hallelujah! what a Savior!
Hallelujah! what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.

  2. Dear Kelli, Will, Amos, & Lucas,

Thanks for posting this–Gigis and Grandpas are great! (As are Dadas and Nanas.)

And a date night, or even a date hour, sounds like a necessary and therefore good thing–may they increase in frequency and depth.

Amos might like to know that Mr Fred’s chickens are well, enjoying the summer, and especially enjoying being let out so that they can dig dust bowls–all four crowded into a tiny circle and, clucking softly, and kicking dust all over each other. Filthy, but happy.

Much love from our home to you all.

    fred
